ITI Certificate Name Correction in Uttarakhand

An ITI certificate name correction is made by raising a profile grievance on the central training directorate's portal, with proof such as your class 10 certificate. The request passes through your ITI and the state's training office before the directorate approves it. The facility covers trainees admitted in 2014 and later. No Gazette is needed for a spelling.
An ITI certificate name correction matters at the factory gate, the apprenticeship form and the recruitment desk, where the trade certificate is read beside the class 10 certificate. Which Certificates Does an ITI Trainee Get?
Industrial Training Institutes run trade courses under the Craftsmen Training Scheme of the Directorate General of Training, in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
- A trainee who passes the All India Trade Test is awarded the National Trade Certificate, under the national council for vocational training.
- With it comes a mark sheet for the trade test.
- These are now issued as digital certificates, which an employer can verify online.
- Some trades or units come under the state council, and their certificates are issued by the state.
- After the ITI, an apprenticeship leads to a separate national apprenticeship certificate.
Look at the top of your certificate to see which council issued it. That decides who corrects it.
Where Does the Name on a Trade Certificate Come From?
- The admission form. Filled by the trainee or the ITI office, from the class 10 certificate.
- The trainee profile. The ITI enters each trainee on the national portal, with the name, the father's name, the mother's name and the date of birth.
- The hall ticket and the result. Drawn from that profile.
- The certificate and mark sheet. Generated from the same profile.
So a mistake on the certificate is a mistake in the profile, and it was nearly always made when the ITI office typed a batch of trainees in a hurry. The correction is made to the profile, and the certificate is then generated again.
You can see your profile on the portal with your registration number. Check it in the first month of training, not after the result.
What Is a Profile Grievance?
It is the directorate's name for a request to correct a trainee's details. An order of the directorate, issued in late 2025, sets out the present arrangement.

So the request is raised online by you, but it is your ITI that sees it first. Tell the ITI office that you have raised it, and give them the same proof on paper. A grievance that sits unseen at the first stage goes nowhere.
What Differs by Year of Admission?

The order is some months old, and the portal has been changing. Ask your ITI what is open today for your year. If you were admitted before 2014 and the correction is not yet open online, ask the ITI and the state's training office how a request on paper is taken.

Guides report that the facility is for correcting details, not for replacing a name wholly. A full change of name is a different matter from a slip.
How Do You Raise the Grievance?
The screens change. This is the general method.
Step 1: Find your registration number
It is on your hall ticket, mark sheet and certificate.
Step 2: Open your trainee profile on the portal
Note every detail as the portal has it: name, both parents' names, date of birth.
Step 3: Compare it with your class 10 certificate
Mark each difference. Raise them all in one request.
Step 4: Check that your mobile number and email are on the portal
The sign-in code goes to them. If they are missing, ask your ITI to raise a request to add them.
Step 5: Raise a profile grievance
Under Grievance, then Raise Grievance. Choose the detail to be corrected and enter it exactly as on the class 10 certificate.
Step 6: Upload the proof and note the grievance number
A clear scan, within the size allowed.
Step 7: Tell your ITI, and follow it through the stages
Give the ITI office the grievance number and the proof on paper. Check the status until it has passed the ITI, the state and the directorate.
Step 8: Download the fresh certificate and mark sheet
Once regenerated, read every name and the date of birth, and check that the certificate verifies online.
If the grievance is rejected, read the reason. Usually the proof does not show what was asked for. Raise it again with the right paper.
Which Proof Should You Upload?
The portal lists what it accepts. Guides commonly name these.
For your own name and date of birth
- The class 10 certificate or mark sheet
- Aadhaar, where it agrees with the class 10 certificate
- The ITI admission form or identity card, if you have it
For a parent's name
- The class 10 certificate, which carries the parents' names
- The parent's own identity proof
- Where the parent has changed a name, that Gazette notification

What About State Council Certificates?
- A certificate issued under the state council for vocational training is corrected by the state, not through the central portal.
- Apply through the ITI that trained you. Its principal forwards the request to the state's training directorate.
- Carry the class 10 certificate, the original certificate and identity proof.
- We could not confirm the state's form, fee or time. Ask the ITI office.
The same applies to certificates of short courses run by an ITI under other schemes. The body named on the certificate is the one that corrects it.
What Should You Do During Training?
- Check your trainee profile in the first month. Ask the ITI office to show it, or look it up with your registration number.
- Report a mistake in writing to the principal, with a copy of your class 10 certificate.
- Check the hall ticket before each examination. It shows what the certificate will say.
- Keep your mobile number and email current on the portal. Without them you cannot sign in later.
- Do not leave the ITI with a wrong profile. A request raised while you are a trainee is seen the same week. One raised years later depends on staff who never met you.
What Happens at an Apprenticeship or a Job?
- Apprenticeship registration matches your details with Aadhaar and your trade certificate. A mismatch can stop the contract being made.
- Railways, power utilities, defence units and public sector companies check the trade certificate against the class 10 certificate at document verification.
- Employers verify digital trade certificates online. A certificate that does not verify, or verifies in a different name, is questioned.
- Where a deadline is close, carry the certificate with your class 10 certificate and a sworn statement that both names are one person, and ask if that is accepted while the correction is pending.
- Disclose any other name on the form where it asks.

When Is a Gazette Needed?
A changed name
You have taken a new name since the ITI. The Gazette records the change and is kept with the certificate.
An old certificate that cannot yet be corrected
A Gazette notice stating both forms links the certificate to your identity papers meanwhile.
An employer asks for it
Some recruiters want a Gazette notification where the certificate and the class 10 certificate differ in more than a letter.

How Does the Central Gazette Route Work?
The National Trade Certificate is a central document, used across the country. The Gazette of India is the one to use.
Step 1: Check if a profile grievance will do
If it is a slip your class 10 certificate proves, you do not need this.
Step 2: Choose the right kind of notice
A change of name notice for a new name or an alias. A public notice where your name was wrongly written in your educational documents.
Step 3: Fix the exact name
The spelling, spacing and order to be used on every paper.
Step 4: Make the affidavit or the undertaking
An affidavit before a notary for a change of name. An undertaking for a public notice.
Step 5: Publish the newspaper notice
In a daily local leading newspaper. Keep the original newspaper.
Step 6: Type the form and prepare the CD
Two typed copies of the specimen, signed with two witnesses, the same text on a CD in MS Word, photographs with identity proof, and a certificate that both copies match.
Step 7: Pay the charge on BharatKosh
Commonly Rs 1,100 for an adult's change of name and Rs 1,400 for a public notice. It is not refunded.
Step 8: Send the file yourself, then use the Gazette
Send it to the Controller of Publications, Department of Publication, Civil Lines, Delhi 110054. Keep the published Gazette with your trade certificate, and give a copy to your employer.
Would the Uttarakhand Gazette Do?
For a state council certificate used within the state, it may. For a National Trade Certificate, a central employer or work outside the state, choose the Gazette of India.

For railways, defence or a job in another state, the Gazette of India is the safer choice.

When you do not need us
For a slip in your name, a parent's name or the date of birth that your class 10 certificate proves, you need the portal and your ITI. We are useful where you have changed your name, or where an old certificate cannot yet be corrected and a Gazette has to link it to your other papers.
