PM Kisan Name Mismatch in Uttarakhand
When a farmer's instalment stops because the name in the scheme's record does not match Aadhaar, the bank account or the land record: how to read the status the portal shows, which office cures each fault, and why the land record is the hard one in the hills.
A PM Kisan name mismatch is corrected on the scheme's portal, where the name is brought to Aadhaar, followed by a fresh identity check. The bank account's name is corrected at the branch, and the land record at the tehsil. Check which of the three the portal's status page marks as failed. No Gazette is needed for a spelling.

The farmers' income support is paid three times a year, by machine, to whoever passes three checks. A PM Kisan name mismatch fails one of them, and the instalment simply does not arrive. This page explains PM Kisan name mismatch for farmers in Uttarakhand: how to find the failed check, and where each is put right.
We do not deal with the scheme, banks or tehsils, and this subject almost never needs a Gazette. The portal's options and the reasons a payment fails are as guides describe them. We did not test the portal. For farm loans and crop cover, read Kisan Credit Card and crop insurance name mismatch.
What Is the Scheme, and What Record Lies Behind It?
- What it is. A central income support for landholding farmer families, paid in instalments through the year.
- How it is paid. By direct transfer, on Aadhaar, into the farmer's own bank account.
- The record. Each beneficiary has an entry on the scheme's portal: name, Aadhaar, bank details and land particulars, verified by the state.
- How a farmer gets on it. By registering on the portal or at a common service centre, with Aadhaar, a bank passbook and the land record in the farmer's name.
- Who verifies. The state's agriculture and revenue staff check the land and the eligibility.
Nobody at a counter decides an instalment. Before each one the system checks the record against Aadhaar, the bank and the land data. A farmer who passed last time can fail this time, if one of those has changed or a new check has been added.
What Are the Three Statuses on the Portal?
Guides say the portal's status page, under its farmers' corner, shows three things for each beneficiary.
| Status shown | What it means | Who cures a failure |
|---|---|---|
| Identity check | The farmer has verified against Aadhaar | The farmer, on the portal, the app or at a common service centre |
| Aadhaar and bank linking | The bank account is linked with Aadhaar for benefit payments | The bank branch |
| Land linking | The land in the record has been matched with the state's land data | The tehsil and the agriculture office |
Look at this page before doing anything else. It tells you which office to go to. A farmer who spends a week at the bank when the land linking shows "No" has cured nothing.
In Which Three Places Can a Name Differ?
The scheme's record against Aadhaar
- The name was typed at registration, by the farmer or an operator
- It differs from Aadhaar by a letter, a space or a surname
- The identity check fails, or the record is flagged
- Cured on the portal, as per Aadhaar
The bank account against Aadhaar
- The account was opened years ago in a short form or an old spelling
- The payment is sent and comes back
- Cured at the branch, on Aadhaar
The land record against both
- The land is in a father's or a grandfather's name, or in the farmer's home name
- The land linking fails, or the farmer is found not to hold land
- Cured at the tehsil, by mutation or correction
A guide gives the plain example: "Ram Kumar" on the portal, "Ramkumar" on Aadhaar and "R. Kumar" at the bank. To a person that is one farmer. To the system it is three.
Which Case Is Yours?
| The situation | Route | Gazette? |
|---|---|---|
| The portal's name differs from Aadhaar, and Aadhaar is right | Name correction as per Aadhaar on the portal, then the identity check | No |
| Aadhaar is the wrong one | Correct Aadhaar, then the portal | No |
| The bank account's name differs from Aadhaar | Correct the bank's record and link the account | No |
| The land is in a late father's name | Mutation by succession at the tehsil | No |
| The land record misspells the farmer | A correction application at the tehsil | No |
| The identity check is pending | Complete it. It is not a name problem | No |
| The farmer has changed a name by choice | Gazette, then Aadhaar, then the bank, the portal and the land record | Yes, for Aadhaar |
A Gazette appears once. In every other row the cure is a correction at an ordinary office.
How Do You Put It Right?
Step 1: Open the status page on the scheme's portal
With the registration number or Aadhaar. Note the three statuses and any reason shown.
Step 2: Lay Aadhaar, the passbook and a current land record side by side
Write the name and the father's name from each.
Step 3: Correct Aadhaar first, if it is the odd one
At an Aadhaar centre. Everything else is brought to it.
Step 4: Correct the name on the portal as per Aadhaar
Through the option for that in the farmers' corner, or at a common service centre.
Step 5: Complete the identity check again
By a one-time code, a face scan on the scheme's app, or a fingerprint at a common service centre.
Step 6: Have the bank correct its record and link the account
For benefit payments. Ask the branch to confirm.
Step 7: Put the land record right at the tehsil
By mutation or a correction, and tell the agriculture office so the land linking is updated.
Step 8: Check the status page before the next instalment
All three should read as done.
How Is the Name Corrected on the Portal?
As guides describe the portal. Its menus are renamed from time to time, so follow what it shows now.
- The farmers' corner has had an option titled name correction as per Aadhaar. The farmer enters the registration number, verifies with Aadhaar, and the name is brought to the Aadhaar name.
- Guides also describe an option to edit records that failed Aadhaar authentication, and one to update a self-registered farmer's details.
- A news report says the name can be corrected as per Aadhaar through face authentication on the scheme's app, or a fingerprint-based check at a common service centre.
- The correction takes the name from Aadhaar. It does not let a farmer type a different one. So Aadhaar has to be right first.
- After the correction, the identity check is done again.
- Where the portal will not accept it, the block's agriculture office or the district's nodal officer for the scheme can act on the record.
A common service centre may charge its own small service fee. Nothing more is owed to anyone.
What Is the Identity Check?
- Every beneficiary has to verify against Aadhaar. Guides call an incomplete check the commonest reason an instalment is withheld.
- It is done by a one-time code sent to the mobile number linked with Aadhaar, by a face scan on the scheme's app, or by fingerprint at a common service centre.
- An old farmer with no linked mobile, or fingerprints that no longer read, can use the face scan, or ask the Aadhaar centre about updating biometrics.
- The check passes only where the scheme's record and Aadhaar describe the same person. A name mismatch can make it fail.
- It is not a one-time matter. Fresh checks have been asked for more than once.
What About the Bank Account?
- The instalment goes to the account linked with the farmer's Aadhaar for benefit payments. That may not be the account the farmer typed at registration.
- Guides stress that the account's name should match Aadhaar exactly, and that small spelling differences cause failures.
- A payment that was sent and rejected usually means a closed or dormant account, or one not linked.
- The bank corrects a name on Aadhaar, and links the account on request. Ask for a printed confirmation of the linking.
- An account at a cooperative bank or a small rural branch should be checked with special care. Ask if it receives benefit transfers.
Why Is the Land Record the Hard Part in the Hills?
- The scheme is for a family that holds cultivable land. The land has to be in the farmer's own name in the state's record.
- In the hills, holdings are small and joint. A field may still stand in the name of a man who died forty years ago, with his grandsons farming it.
- Those grandsons are farmers in every real sense and hold nothing on paper. The land linking fails for them.
- The cure is mutation by succession at the tehsil, which brings the living heirs on record. Where the heirs are many and scattered, it takes time and agreement.
- A farmer already on record under a home name or an old spelling applies for a correction, on Aadhaar and older papers.
- After the record is put right, the agriculture office has to update the land linking in the scheme. Tell it. The tehsil does not do that for you.
What Does One Family, One Beneficiary Mean?
- The benefit is for a farmer family, which the scheme defines as husband, wife and minor children. One member is the beneficiary.
- Where both husband and wife are registered, one is removed as a duplicate. That is not a name mismatch, though it is often mistaken for one.
- A wife who holds land in her own name can be the beneficiary. Her name on the land record, Aadhaar and her bank account then has to be one name.
- Adult sons with land in their own names are separate families for this purpose.
- The scheme has categories it leaves out, such as income tax payers and serving or retired Government employees above a pension limit. A farmer removed on that ground has not been removed for his name.
Read the reason on the status page before assuming it is the name.
What Happens When the Farmer Dies?
- The benefit stops with the beneficiary. It does not pass to an heir automatically.
- Tell the agriculture office, with the death certificate, so that the record is closed. Instalments drawn after a death are recoverable.
- Apply for mutation, so that the heirs come on the land record.
- The heir who now holds the land registers afresh, in his or her own name, with own Aadhaar and bank account.
- A widow comes on record with the other heirs. Her own papers should carry one name before she registers. Read widow pension records too.
Read name correction in a death certificate and legal heir certificate.
Where Does a Gazette Come In?
Almost never for this scheme. It comes in where a living farmer has changed a name by choice, and Aadhaar needs a Gazette for that. It does nothing for land in a dead holder's name.
Step 1: Confirm that it is a change of name, and not a spelling or a mutation
Those are done at ordinary offices.
Step 2: Fix the exact new name
The spelling that will go on Aadhaar, the bank, the portal and the land record.
Step 3: Make the affidavit
State the old name, the new name, your father's name and your address. Sign before a notary.
Step 4: Publish the newspaper notice
In a daily local leading newspaper. Keep the original newspaper.
Step 5: Type the form and sign the undertaking
Two typed copies of the specimen, signed in your old name with two witnesses, and the undertaking.
Step 6: Prepare the CD, photographs and certificate
The same text on a CD in MS Word, two self-attested photographs with identity proof, and a certificate that both copies match.
Step 7: Pay the charge on BharatKosh
Commonly Rs 1,100 for an adult. It is not refunded.
Step 8: Send the file, then update in order
Send it to the Controller of Publications, Department of Publication, Civil Lines, Delhi 110054. Update Aadhaar, the bank, the portal and the land record.
That charge is a real part of a year's benefit. Be sure it is a change of name and not a spelling. See gazette name change in Uttarakhand.
Does the Uttarakhand Gazette Matter Here?
Not to the scheme, which follows Aadhaar. The question is only which Gazette Aadhaar accepts.
Step 1: Ask the Aadhaar centre which Gazette it accepts
The scheme follows Aadhaar.
Step 2: Think about the bank and the tehsil
The Gazette of India serves them all.
Step 3: Contact the Roorkee press
Take the contact from govtpress.uk.gov.in and ask if a private change of name notice is being accepted.
Step 4: Ask for the papers, the format and the fee, and submit
Keep photocopies of everything.
Step 5: Download the notice
Search gazettes.uk.gov.in and save the PDF.

Which Mistakes Do Farmers Make?
| Mistake | What to do |
|---|---|
| Going to an office before reading the status page | Read the three statuses first |
| Trying to type a new name on the portal | It takes the name from Aadhaar. Correct Aadhaar |
| Paying for an affidavit or a Gazette to fix a spelling | Every record is corrected at its own office |
| Expecting a Gazette to put land in your name | Only mutation does that |
| Registering a second time in a new spelling | Correct the existing record |
| Registering both husband and wife | One member of the family |
| Drawing instalments after the beneficiary's death | Report it. The heir registers afresh |
| Not telling the agriculture office after a mutation | The land linking has to be updated |
| Paying a tout to "release" an instalment | Nobody can. The system pays when the checks pass |
A typical case we handle: a farmer in Bageshwar had received instalments for three years, and then they stopped. His status page showed the identity check as failed. The portal had him as "Mohan Singh", his Aadhaar as "Mohan Singh Koranga". A man at the bazaar offered a Gazette. He needed none. His nephew corrected the name as per Aadhaar at a common service centre, the fingerprint check went through, and the next instalment came. This is an illustrative example of the type of case we handle, not a named client review.
When you do not need us
For this scheme, almost always. The portal, the bank and the tehsil each cure their own part. We are useful only where a farmer has changed a name by choice and Aadhaar needs a Gazette first.
Which Areas of Uttarakhand Do We Cover?
All 13 districts: Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Almora, Bageshwar, Champawat and Pithoragarh. The record is corrected online, at your bank and at your tehsil. For the papers behind it, send photos on WhatsApp and we will tell you which one to correct.

The portal's status page, its options for correcting a name, the ways of completing the identity check and the usual reasons a payment fails are as several guides and a news report describe them. We did not test the portal or read the scheme's current operating instructions, and its menus change. The family rule, the exclusions and what happens on a beneficiary's death are general guidance. We left out amounts and dates because they change. Your block's agriculture office is the authority.

Read the status page first. It shows the identity check, the bank linking and the land linking. The name in the scheme's record is corrected on the portal as per Aadhaar, and the identity check repeated. The bank corrects and links the account. The tehsil puts the land record right, by mutation where the land is in a dead holder's name. Tell the agriculture office after any change to the land.
No Gazette is needed for any of that. To find out which record to correct, send photos on WhatsApp 9540005064, and we will reply in working hours.
