CTET Certificate Name Correction for Uttarakhand Candidates
A wrong name on a teacher eligibility application, admit card or certificate: what can be corrected and when, what the rules say after the window closes, and how a certificate that cannot be changed is still used.
A CTET certificate name correction is possible only at the application stage. The board lets a candidate correct the name and the parents' names online, once, in a short window, and says no request for a change is accepted after it closes. The certificate then carries what the application said. Enter your name as on your class 10 certificate.

A CTET certificate name correction is asked about by teachers who notice, at a recruitment, that the eligibility certificate and the class 10 certificate do not read alike. By then the board's window has long closed. This page explains CTET certificate name correction for candidates in Uttarakhand: what the rules allow, and what to do when they no longer allow anything.
We do not correct eligibility certificates, and on the board's own rules nobody does after the window. Our work is the Gazette, which can link two forms of a name where a certificate will stay as it is. For degrees and mark sheets, read name change in education documents in Uttarakhand.
What Is the Test, and What Certificate Does It Give?
The Central Teacher Eligibility Test is held by the Central Board of Secondary Education. A pass is one of the conditions for appointment as a teacher of classes 1 to 8 in central schools, and it is accepted by many states and private schools.
- A candidate applies online for each test, on the test's own website.
- The board provides a mark sheet to every candidate, and an eligibility certificate to those who qualify.
- Both are given in digital form, in the candidate's digital locker account, and can be verified by scanning the code on them.
- The eligibility certificate is now valid for life, so it may be produced years later.
That last point is why the name matters. A certificate used once, the month after the test, causes little trouble. One produced ten years on, after a marriage or a correction to other papers, is compared with whatever your papers say then.
What Does the Information Bulletin Say About Names?
The board issues an information bulletin for each test. The wording on particulars has been the same across recent bulletins.
| Point | What the bulletin says |
|---|---|
| How to enter the name | The candidate's name, father's name, mother's name and date of birth are to be entered as per the class 10 certificate |
| After the fee is paid | The particulars cannot be edited, except through the correction facility |
| The correction facility | Online correction is allowed in particulars including the name, the father's and mother's names and the date of birth, in a stated window |
| How many times | The facility is provided only once |
| After the window | No request for any change in particulars is accepted, under any circumstances |
| The admit card | If a particular on the admit card differs from the confirmation page, the candidate may contact the test unit at once for correction |
Read the fifth row as it is written. The board does not offer a correction of the certificate after the result. What the certificate says is what the application said when the window closed.
What Can Be Done at Each Stage?
| Stage | What can be done |
|---|---|
| Before submitting the form | Everything. Type the name from the class 10 certificate |
| After submitting, in the correction window | Correct the name and the parents' names online, once |
| After the window, before the test | Only a difference between the admit card and your confirmation page can be taken up with the test unit |
| After the result | On the bulletin's wording, no change. The certificate stands |
So the useful advice for most readers is in the next section, and the honest answer for the rest is in the one after.
How Do You Use the Correction Window?
Step 1: Keep your class 10 certificate open beside the form
The bulletin makes it the measure for the name, both parents' names and the date of birth.
Step 2: Print the confirmation page after you apply
Read it letter by letter the same day. This is the board's record of you.
Step 3: Note the dates of the correction window
They are in the bulletin and on the test's website. The window is short, a few days.
Step 4: Sign in during the window and open the correction option
With your application number and password.
Step 5: Correct every wrong particular in one sitting
The facility is given once. Do not correct one field and plan to return for another.
Step 6: Submit and print the corrected confirmation page
Keep it. It is your proof of what you asked for.
Step 7: Check the admit card against it
If the admit card shows something different, contact the test unit at once, as the bulletin says.
Step 8: Check the mark sheet and certificate in your digital locker
After the result, see that they carry the corrected particulars.
What If the Admit Card Has a Mistake?
- The bulletin deals with one case: a particular on the admit card that is different from the confirmation page. That is the board's own slip, and it tells the candidate to contact the test unit at once.
- Write by email with your application number, the confirmation page, the admit card and your class 10 certificate. Keep the reply.
- It does not cover a mistake that is on the confirmation page as well. That was your entry, and the window was the time to correct it.
- Carry the identity proof the admit card asks for. A small difference in spelling between the admit card and the identity proof can lead to questions at the centre, so carry your class 10 certificate as well.
What If the Result Is Out and the Name Is Wrong?
Then the certificate is likely to stay as it is. These are the courses open to you.
- Write to the test unit anyway, where the mistake is plainly the board's and not yours, with the confirmation page as proof. The bulletin promises nothing, but a difference between your confirmation page and the certificate is worth raising.
- Use the certificate with a linking paper, where the difference is small. A sworn statement that both forms are one person, shown with the class 10 certificate, is what most recruiters ask for.
- Publish a Gazette notice stating both forms, where a recruiter wants a public paper. A notice joining the two by alias, or a public notice that your name was wrongly written, ties the certificate to your other papers for good.
- Take the test again, where the difference is serious and no recruiter will accept an explanation. The test is held more than once a year, and a fresh certificate in the right name ends the matter.
Which of these is right depends on how different the two names are, and on what the recruiting body says. Ask it in writing before you spend on anything. See name spelling correction affidavit and alias name in a gazette notification.
Which Case Is Yours?
| The situation | Route | Gazette? |
|---|---|---|
| The form is submitted and the window has not yet closed | Correct it online, once | No |
| The admit card differs from your confirmation page | Contact the test unit at once | No |
| The certificate has a wrong letter that you typed | A sworn statement with the class 10 certificate | If the recruiter asks |
| The certificate is right as per class 10, and Aadhaar differs | Bring Aadhaar in line with the class 10 certificate | No |
| The certificate is in a maiden name, identity papers in a married name | The marriage certificate links them | No |
| You have changed your name by Gazette since the test | The Gazette is kept with the certificate | Yes |
| The two names are quite different | Ask the recruiter. Consider taking the test again | Often asked for |
Notice the fourth row. If the certificate matches your class 10 certificate, the certificate is right, and it is the other paper that should move.
What If You Have Changed Your Name Since the Test?
A lifetime certificate will outlast many changes in a teacher's papers. The certificate itself is not reissued for them.
- After marriage. Keep the marriage certificate with the eligibility certificate. No Gazette is needed for that link.
- After a change of name by Gazette. Keep the Gazette notification with it. Read together, the two show that the person who qualified is the person now applying.
- Before applying for a later test. If you have changed your name and are taking the test again, ask the test unit how to enter the name, since the bulletin points to the class 10 certificate.
- In the digital locker. The certificate there is the board's document and cannot be edited. Your locker account follows Aadhaar.
See name change after marriage in Uttarakhand and name change in APAAR ID and DigiLocker.
What About the State's Own Eligibility Test?
Uttarakhand holds its own teacher eligibility test for posts in the state's schools, conducted through the state's school education board.
- It has its own application, its own bulletin and its own certificate.
- The same care applies: enter the name as on the class 10 certificate, and use any correction facility the bulletin gives.
- We could not confirm the state board's rule on correcting a certificate after the result. Ask the board's office, in writing.
- A candidate may hold both certificates. Each is corrected, or not, by the body that issued it.
For the state board's other certificates, see father's name correction in an Uttarakhand Board mark sheet.
What Happens at a Teacher Recruitment?
- The recruiting body compares the eligibility certificate with the class 10 certificate, the degree, the teaching qualification and identity proof.
- It verifies the certificate online, by its code or number.
- A teacher's file has many papers earned over many years, so small differences between them are common. What matters is that each is explained by a paper.
- Fill the recruitment form in the name on your class 10 certificate, and disclose any other name where the form asks.
- Carry, in one folder, every certificate with the paper that links it: the marriage certificate, the Gazette, or a sworn statement.
Verification dates are fixed. Sort out your papers when you qualify, not when the call letter comes. For the check that follows selection, see name mismatch in police verification.
How Does the Central Gazette Route Work?
The test is a central one, and its certificate is used across the country. Where a Gazette is to link two forms of your name, the Gazette of India is the one to use.
Step 1: Ask the recruiting body what it will accept
A sworn statement or a marriage certificate may be enough.
Step 2: Choose the right kind of notice
A change of name notice stating both forms joined by alias, or a public notice that your name was wrongly written in your educational documents.
Step 3: Fix the name you will use, and list the other form exactly
Copy the other form letter by letter from the certificate.
Step 4: Make the affidavit or the undertaking
An affidavit before a notary for a change of name notice. An undertaking for a public notice.
Step 5: Publish the newspaper notice
In a daily local leading newspaper. Keep the original newspaper.
Step 6: Type the form and prepare the CD
Two typed copies of the specimen, signed with two witnesses, the same text on a CD in MS Word, photographs with identity proof, and a certificate that both copies match.
Step 7: Pay the charge on BharatKosh
Commonly Rs 1,100 for an adult's change of name, with Rs 250 more for each alias, and Rs 1,400 for a public notice. It is not refunded.
Step 8: Send the file yourself, then keep the Gazette with the certificate
Send it to the Controller of Publications, Department of Publication, Civil Lines, Delhi 110054. Print the published Gazette and keep it in your recruitment folder.
A Gazette does not change the eligibility certificate. It explains it.
Would the Uttarakhand Gazette Do?
For a post in the state's own schools, a state notice may serve. For a central school, or a post in another state, choose the Gazette of India.
Step 1: Ask the recruiting body which Gazette it accepts
In writing, before you choose.
Step 2: Think about where you may apply over the years
A lifetime certificate may be used with several employers. The Gazette of India serves them all.
Step 3: Contact the Roorkee press
Take the contact from govtpress.uk.gov.in and ask if a private notice of the kind you need is being accepted.
Step 4: Ask for the papers, the format and the fee, and submit
Keep photocopies of everything.
Step 5: Download the notice
Search gazettes.uk.gov.in and save the PDF.

Which Mistakes Do Candidates Make?
| Mistake | What to do |
|---|---|
| Typing the name from Aadhaar or from memory | Type it from the class 10 certificate |
| Letting a cafe fill the form unchecked | Read the confirmation page yourself |
| Missing the correction window | Note its dates the day you apply |
| Correcting one field and leaving another | The facility is given once. Do them together |
| Expecting a correction after the result | The bulletin allows none. Plan for a linking paper |
| Paying someone who promises to "get the certificate corrected" | The board accepts no such request |
| Changing Aadhaar away from the class 10 certificate | Keep every paper on the class 10 spelling |
| Finding the difference on the day of verification | Compare all your certificates when you qualify |
| Thinking a Gazette changes the certificate | It explains the certificate. It does not alter it |
A typical case we handle: a teacher in Almora qualified some years ago, with a form filled at a cyber cafe that dropped the "h" from her surname. At a recruitment she was asked to explain why the eligibility certificate said "Bist" and her class 10 certificate and degrees said "Bisht". She asked us to have the certificate corrected. We told her that was not open to her. She gave a sworn statement at once, and published a Gazette notice stating both spellings, which she now keeps with the certificate. This is an illustrative example of the type of case we handle, not a named client review.
When you do not need us
In the correction window, you need only the test's website. For a married name, the marriage certificate. Where a recruiter accepts a sworn statement, a notary. We are useful where a recruiter asks for a Gazette notification to link the certificate to your other papers.
Which Areas of Uttarakhand Do We Cover?
All 13 districts: Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Almora, Bageshwar, Champawat and Pithoragarh. The test is applied for online, from anywhere. The Gazette file, where one is needed, is prepared on WhatsApp.

The rule on entering particulars, the single correction window, the bar on changes after it, the admit card and the digital certificate are from the board's information bulletins for recent tests. What to do after the result is our own guidance, since the bulletin offers nothing. What a recruiting body accepts is for that body to say. Read the bulletin for the test you are taking.

CTET Certificate Name Correction: The Short Version
The board asks for your name and your parents' names as on the class 10 certificate. It gives one online correction window before the test, and accepts no change after it. So the eligibility certificate carries what the application said, and it is not corrected or reissued later.
Where a certificate differs from your other papers, it is used with a linking paper: a marriage certificate, a sworn statement, or a Gazette notice stating both forms. To find out which fits your case, send photos on WhatsApp 9540005064, and we will reply in working hours.
