UKPSC and UKSSSC Application Name Mismatch in Uttarakhand
For candidates of the state's two recruiting commissions who have typed a name, a father's name or a date of birth that does not match the high school certificate: what each commission allows, when, and what to do if the name itself has changed since class 10.
A UKPSC and UKSSSC application name mismatch is fixed by the candidate, in the form, while the commission allows it. Both go by the high school certificate. The subordinate commission says it does not edit a submitted form: the candidate cancels it before the last date and applies again. A Gazette is for a name changed after class 10.

Most recruitment to the state's services passes through two commissions, and both take the candidate's name from what the candidate types. A UKPSC and UKSSSC application name mismatch is a typing matter until the last date, and a serious one after it. This page explains UKPSC and UKSSSC application name mismatch for candidates in Uttarakhand.
We do not fill forms or deal with the commissions. We prepare the Gazette notification, where a candidate's name has changed since class 10. The subordinate commission's position is from its own published answers. The public service commission's correction window is as coaching sites report it. For the later stages, read admit card name mismatch and name mismatch at document verification.
What Are the Two Commissions?
| Point | Uttarakhand Public Service Commission | Uttarakhand Subordinate Service Selection Commission |
|---|---|---|
| Short name | UKPSC | UKSSSC |
| What it recruits for | The state's civil services and other gazetted and higher posts | Group C posts across the state's departments |
| How a candidate applies | Online, for each advertisement | Online, through a one-time registration and then each advertisement |
| The paper its forms go by | The high school certificate, which coaching sites say it takes as proof of date of birth | The high school marksheet or certificate, as its own answers say |
Other bodies recruit too: the police, the medical selection board, universities and central commissions. Each has its own rule. This page is about these two only.
What Does Each Commission Allow?
The first three rows are from the subordinate commission's own published answers. The last two are as coaching sites report a recent advertisement of the public service commission. Read the advertisement you are applying under.
| Commission | Question | Position |
|---|---|---|
| UKSSSC | Can a submitted form be edited? | No. It does not permit editing after the form is submitted with the fee, and does not edit on a candidate's behalf |
| UKSSSC | How is a name, a father's name or a date of birth corrected? | Cancel the whole application before the last date, update the one-time registration as per the high school marksheet or certificate, then apply again |
| UKSSSC | What about after the last date? | Wait for any opportunity the commission gives. It decides which fields may be corrected |
| UKPSC | Can a submitted form be changed? | Reported as only during a correction window, which opens some working days after the closing date, stays open about ten days and is given once |
| UKPSC | Is everything editable in the window? | Reported as not. The registered mobile number is given as one field that cannot be edited |
Neither commission offers a counter where a clerk changes a name on request. The candidate does it, online, inside a date. That is the whole subject.
Where Does the Name Come From?
- The candidate types it into a registration or profile: name, father's name, mother's name and date of birth.
- The application for a post draws on that profile.
- The admit card prints what the application holds.
- The result and the merit list carry the same.
- At document verification, the panel reads it against the original high school certificate.
- The appointment letter and the service book are written from the verified record.
One wrong letter at the first step travels to the last. The commissions hold the candidate to the declaration signed at submission, that the entries are true and match the certificates.
Which Case Is Yours?
| The situation | Route | Gazette? |
|---|---|---|
| A typing slip, noticed before final submission | Correct it in the form | No |
| A slip in a submitted subordinate commission form, before the last date | Cancel, correct the registration, apply again | No |
| A slip in a submitted public service commission form | Correct it in the correction window | No |
| A slip noticed after every date has passed | Write to the commission, and carry proof to verification | No |
| The form matches class 10, and Aadhaar differs | Correct Aadhaar. The form is right | No |
| The form was filled in a name used since class 10, which the certificate does not carry | The Gazette notification links the two | Yes |
| The caste, residence or other certificate differs from the form | A fresh certificate from the tehsil, within the dates allowed | No |
A Gazette answers one row. For the others it is the wrong tool, and it cannot be had in the days a correction window lasts.
How Do You Get It Right Before You Submit?
Step 1: Put the original high school certificate in front of you
Not a photocopy, and not memory.
Step 2: Read the advertisement's instructions on the name
How it wants the name entered, and what it says about a changed name.
Step 3: Type the name, the father's name and the date of birth from the certificate
Letter by letter, in the same order, with the same spacing.
Step 4: Check your category certificates against the same certificate
Caste, residence, and any other the post asks for.
Step 5: Preview the form before paying
Read every field aloud to someone holding the certificate.
Step 6: Submit early, not on the last day
So that there is time to cancel and apply again if you find a slip.
Step 7: Download and read the submitted form the same day
Compare it once more with the certificate.
Step 8: Note the correction dates in your diary
They come once.
How Does Cancel and Apply Again Work?
The subordinate commission's published answers set this out plainly.
- A form submitted with the fee is not edited, by the candidate or by the commission.
- Before the last date, the candidate cancels the submitted application.
- The candidate then logs in and updates the one-time registration with the correct name, father's name and date of birth, as per the high school marksheet or certificate.
- After that, the candidate applies again for the post.
- After the last date, there is nothing to do but wait for a correction opportunity, if the commission gives one. It chooses the fields.
Ask the commission's helpdesk what happens to the fee on a cancelled application before you cancel. We could not confirm it. And do not leave the first submission to the final evening, since cancel and apply again needs time on the clock.
How Does the Correction Window Work?
As coaching sites report a recent advertisement. The advertisement itself governs.
- After final submission, changes are possible only in a correction window.
- The window is reported as opening some working days after the closing date, staying open about ten days, and being given once.
- Not every field can be changed. The registered mobile number is reported as fixed.
- A candidate who misses the window carries the form as it stands into the examination.
- Download the corrected form and keep it with the first one.
Use the window for what it is for: a slip against the high school certificate. Do not use it to move the form towards an Aadhaar spelling that the certificate does not carry.
What If Every Date Has Passed?
- Write to the commission at once, by the channel its advertisement gives, stating the entry as typed and as on the certificate, with a copy of the certificate.
- Keep the acknowledgement. It shows you raised it yourself, early.
- Carry identity proof to the examination that connects you to the admit card, with the certificate.
- Watch the commission's site for any further correction notice.
- At document verification, hand over the letter, the acknowledgement and the certificate before you are asked.
Whether a difference is excused is the commission's decision. A one-letter slip with a clear certificate and an early letter stands a far better chance than a different name discovered by the panel. An affidavit can be offered. Do not expect it to settle the matter on its own.
What About the State's Certificates Behind the Form?
State recruitment leans on certificates issued by the tehsil, and each carries the candidate's and the father's name.
- The residence certificate, for posts and benefits kept for people of the state.
- The caste certificate, for the reserved categories, in the state's format.
- The income and asset certificate, for the economically weaker sections.
- Certificates for horizontal reservations, such as those for women of the state, ex-servicemen, persons with disabilities and other groups the advertisement lists.
A tehsil certificate is not altered. A wrong one is replaced by a fresh one. But an advertisement often says by what date a certificate has to be issued, and a fresh one issued later may not be accepted. So read them against the high school certificate before applying, not after selection. Read residence certificate, caste certificate, OBC certificate and income certificate.
What If Your Name Has Changed Since Class 10?
- Both commissions go by the high school certificate. A candidate whose present name is not on it has two names to account for.
- Read the advertisement for how it wants this handled. Recruiting bodies commonly ask the candidate to apply in the certificate name and to bring proof of the change, which for a change other than by marriage means a Gazette notification.
- A married woman who has taken a new surname brings her marriage certificate. If her certificates and the form are all in her maiden name, nothing needs linking.
- A Gazette takes weeks. It has to be in hand before document verification, and ideally before the application.
- Do not solve it by typing the new name into the form and hoping. The panel will open the certificate.
Read name change in education documents and name change for government employees, for after you join.
How Does the Central Gazette Route Work?
Use this where your name has in fact changed since class 10. It does nothing for a typing slip in a form.
Step 1: Confirm that it is a change of name, and not a slip in the form
A slip is corrected in the form, inside the dates.
Step 2: Start well before you need it
A Gazette commonly takes 3 to 7 weeks.
Step 3: Fix the exact new name, and copy the name as on the certificate
Letter by letter.
Step 4: Make the affidavit and publish the newspaper notice
Sign before a notary. Publish in a daily local leading newspaper, and keep the original newspaper.
Step 5: Type the form and sign the undertaking
Two typed copies of the specimen, signed in your old name with two witnesses, and the undertaking.
Step 6: Prepare the CD, photographs and certificate
The same text on a CD in MS Word, two self-attested photographs with identity proof, and a certificate that both copies match.
Step 7: Pay the charge on BharatKosh
Commonly Rs 1,100 for an adult. It is not refunded.
Step 8: Send the file yourself, then carry the Gazette to every stage
Send it to the Controller of Publications, Department of Publication, Civil Lines, Delhi 110054. Keep several clear prints with your certificates.
Would a State Commission Accept the Uttarakhand Gazette?
For a state post it may. A candidate who is also applying to central bodies, and who needs Aadhaar and PAN to follow, is better served by the Gazette of India.
Step 1: Read what the advertisement says about proof of a changed name
And ask the commission's helpdesk where it is silent.
Step 2: Think about central examinations, Aadhaar and PAN
The Gazette of India serves them all.
Step 3: Contact the Roorkee press
Take the contact from govtpress.uk.gov.in and ask if a private change of name notice is being accepted, and how long it takes.
Step 4: Ask for the papers, the format and the fee, and submit
Keep photocopies of everything.
Step 5: Download the notice
Search gazettes.uk.gov.in and save the PDF.

Which Mistakes Do Candidates Make?
| Mistake | What to do |
|---|---|
| Typing the name from Aadhaar or from memory | Type from the high school certificate |
| Letting a cyber cafe operator fill the form unwatched | Sit beside the screen and read the preview |
| Submitting on the last evening | Submit early, so a slip can still be cured |
| Asking the commission to edit a submitted form | It does not. Cancel and apply again, or use the window |
| Missing the one correction window | Note its dates the day you apply |
| Rushing for a Gazette to fix a typing slip | A Gazette is for a changed name only |
| Changing the form to match a wrong Aadhaar | Correct Aadhaar to the certificate |
| Not reading the tehsil's certificates before applying | Check each name and date first |
| Staying silent after the dates, hoping nobody notices | Write to the commission and keep the acknowledgement |
A typical case we handle: a candidate from Pauri found, two days before a subordinate commission form closed, that a cafe operator had typed his father's name with a wrong letter. He rang us asking for an urgent Gazette. We told him a Gazette was neither needed nor possible in two days, and pointed him to the commission's own answer. He cancelled the application, corrected his registration from the high school certificate and applied again the same evening. This is an illustrative example of the type of case we handle, not a named client review.
When you do not need us
For any slip in a form, a certificate or Aadhaar. Each is corrected by the candidate or the issuing office, inside the dates. We are useful only where a candidate's name has in fact changed since class 10, and a Gazette notification is needed to link the certificate to the present name.
Which Areas of Uttarakhand Do We Cover?
All 13 districts: Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Almora, Bageshwar, Champawat and Pithoragarh. Both commissions take applications online. The Gazette file, where one is needed, is prepared on WhatsApp.
