D.El.Ed Certificate Name Correction in Uttarakhand

For trainee and trained teachers whose two-year diploma or its marksheets carry a name that differs from the class 10 certificate: where the name comes from, how the institute and the examining body correct it, and why it has to match the eligibility test certificate at recruitment.

Quick answer

A D.El.Ed certificate name correction is asked for through the institute where you trained, with your class 10 and class 12 certificates. The body that conducts the examination and issues the diploma corrects its record. Do it while you are a trainee, since each form repeats the name. A slip needs no Gazette.

A D.El.Ed diploma takes its name from the entrance form and the institute record, so read your first marksheet against class 10 and correct any slip while still a trainee.

The two-year diploma is the paper that makes a person eligible to teach in a primary school. A D.El.Ed certificate name correction is far easier during the course than on the eve of a recruitment. This page explains D.El.Ed certificate name correction for trainee and trained teachers in Uttarakhand.

We do not deal with institutes or boards. We prepare the Gazette notification, where a name has in fact been changed. Who conducts the entrance examination is from guides to it. We could not confirm who issues the final diploma for each batch, or any form, fee or time limit, so what follows is general guidance. For the central eligibility test, read CTET certificate name correction.

What Is the Diploma, and Who Runs It?

As guides to the entrance examination describe it.

  • What it is. A two-year Diploma in Elementary Education, which trains teachers for the primary and upper primary classes. It was earlier known by the name of the basic training certificate.
  • Where it is taught. At the district institutes of education and training, and at recognised institutes.
  • How one gets in. By a state-level entrance examination, conducted by the state's board of school education.
  • Counselling. Listed with the state's council of educational research and training.
  • What it leads to. With a teacher eligibility test, it qualifies a person to apply for a teacher's post.

Several bodies touch a trainee's record: the board, the council, the institute and whoever issues the final diploma. A correction is made by the one whose record is wrong, and reached through the institute.

Which Papers Does a Trainee Collect?

Papers a trainee teacher collects and where each takes its name from
PaperIssued byTakes its name from
Entrance admit card and resultThe body conducting the entrance examinationThe entrance form
Allotment or admission letterThe counselling authority and the instituteThe entrance record
Semester marksheetsThe examining bodyThe institute's enrolment record
Internship or school experience certificateThe instituteThe institute's record
The diplomaThe examining bodyThe same record as the marksheets
Teacher eligibility test certificateThe body conducting that testA separate form, filled by the candidate

The first five come from one chain. The sixth does not. It is typed afresh by the candidate, often years later, and is the paper most likely to differ from the rest.

Where Does the Name on the Diploma Come From?

  1. The class 10 certificate fixes the name and the date of birth.
  2. The entrance form is filled by the candidate, usually online, usually at a cyber cafe.
  3. The merit list and allotment are printed from the entrance form.
  4. The institute's enrolment record is made at admission, from the allotment and the certificates shown.
  5. Each examination form is filled from that record, every semester.
  6. The marksheets and the diploma are printed from the examining body's record.

A slip typed in the entrance form can travel through all six steps without anyone reading it against the class 10 certificate. The admission day, when originals are on the table, is the best chance to stop it.

What Kinds of Mismatch Are There?

A slip in the diploma record

  • The marksheets or the diploma differ from class 10
  • The slip entered at the entrance form, at enrolment or in printing
  • Corrected by the examining body, through the institute

The eligibility test certificate differs

  • The diploma is right, and the test certificate was typed differently
  • Two bodies, two forms, two spellings
  • Corrected by the body that conducted the test, within its own limits

A changed name

  • The trainee married or changed a name during or after the course
  • The diploma is right for the old name
  • Linked by the marriage certificate, or by a Gazette for a change by choice

Many trainees are young women who marry soon after the course. The third kind is common, and it is not a mistake in any paper. Read Kumari, Devi and the husband’s surname.

A Gazette is certain in one row. Everywhere else a body corrects its own paper, or a marriage certificate explains the difference.

How Do You Have It Corrected?

This is the general method. We could not confirm any body's form or fee.

Step 1: Read your first semester marksheet against the class 10 certificate

Your name, your father's name, your mother's name and the date of birth.

Step 2: Ask the institute to show its enrolment record

The marksheet is printed from it. See which of the two is wrong.

Step 3: Give the institute a written request

Stating the entry as it stands and as it should read, with the class 10 and class 12 certificates.

Step 4: Ask where the correction has to go

The institute may have to forward it to the body that conducts the examination and issues the diploma.

Step 5: Follow it up before the next examination form

Each form you fill repeats the name. A wrong record repeats the slip.

Step 6: Bring Aadhaar to the same name

Later forms and recruitment portals read it.

Step 7: Read every later marksheet, and the diploma, the day it is issued

A slip caught while you are a student is the institute's to chase.

Step 8: Fill the eligibility test and recruitment forms in the same name

So the whole chain reads alike.

What About the Entrance Form, and Counselling?

  • The entrance form asks for the candidate's name, the parents' names and the date of birth, with marks of the qualifying examination.
  • Fill it from the class 10 certificate, yourself. A cafe operator typing from Aadhaar is the usual source of a slip.
  • The admit card shows the name as entered. Read it. An examining body usually allows corrections for a short time only.
  • At counselling the originals are checked: class 10, class 12, the degree where there is one, residence and category certificates.
  • A candidate whose certificates disagree among themselves is questioned there. Settle them before the form.
  • A category certificate typed in another form of the name is as much a problem as a marksheet.

Read name change in caste certificate and name change in residence certificate.

What Is the Institute's Part?

  • The institute keeps the trainee's enrolment record and fills, or checks, each examination form.
  • It is the right place to start. It knows which body issues the marksheets and the diploma for your batch, and in what form that body takes a correction.
  • Where the institute's own record is right and only a marksheet is wrong, it can show that from its register.
  • Where its record is wrong, it corrects the record on your school certificates and forwards the request.
  • A trainee still on the rolls is in a strong position. The institute has to send your next examination form anyway.
  • A former trainee writes to the principal, and should expect to be asked to come with originals.

Ask the institute for a copy of whatever it forwards, with a date. A request that is not followed up tends to stay in a file.

What About Older and Outside Diplomas?

  • An older certificate. A teacher trained under the earlier name of the course holds a certificate from the body that examined then. A correction is asked for from that body or its successor.
  • A diploma earned before the state was formed. Its record may lie with the parent state. Ask the education office where to apply.
  • The open school's diploma. Many untrained teachers in service took the diploma through the national open school. It corrects its own certificates.
  • Another state's diploma. Corrected only in that state.
  • A degree in education instead. A university degree is corrected by the university.

The rule is the same in each case: a paper is corrected by the body that issued it. Read NIOS certificate name correction and migration certificate name correction.

Why Does the Eligibility Test Certificate Matter?

  • A diploma alone does not make a candidate eligible. A teacher eligibility test has to be passed as well: the state's test, conducted by the state's board of school education, or the central one.
  • The test has its own form, filled in a different year, on a different portal.
  • Its certificate carries the candidate's name and the parents' names as typed there.
  • At recruitment the test certificate and the diploma are read side by side, and both against class 10.
  • A candidate who has married since the diploma often fills the test form in a married name. The two certificates then name two women.
  • Fill the test form in the diploma's name. A correction afterwards lies with the body that conducted the test, within its own window.

Read CTET certificate name correction and admit card and hall ticket name mismatch.

What Is Read at Recruitment?

  1. The application. Filled in the class 10 name, with the diploma and the test certificate claimed.
  2. The merit. Often worked out from the marks on these very papers.
  3. Verification. Class 10, class 12, the degree, the diploma with all its marksheets, the test certificate, and residence and category certificates.
  4. Appointment. The service record is opened in the name on these papers.
  5. Later checks. Departments have re-verified teachers' certificates with the issuing bodies, sometimes years after appointment.

That last point is the strongest reason to put a diploma right. A teacher's whole service rests on it, and a doubt raised ten years in is far harder to answer. Read name mismatch at document verification and name change for government employees.

How Does the Central Gazette Route Work?

Use this where your name has in fact been changed by choice, so that the diploma is right for a name you no longer use. It does nothing for a slip, which the issuing body corrects.

Step 1: Confirm that your name has in fact changed

A slip against the class 10 certificate is corrected by the institute and the examining body.

Step 2: Ask the institute how it treats a changed name

Many bodies issue the diploma in the name on their record and expect the Gazette to be shown beside it.

Step 3: Fix the exact new name, and copy the old name from the class 10 certificate

Letter by letter.

Step 4: Make the affidavit and publish the newspaper notice

Sign before a notary. Publish in a daily local leading newspaper, and keep the original newspaper.

Step 5: Type the form and sign the undertaking

Two typed copies of the specimen, signed in your old name with two witnesses, and the undertaking.

Step 6: Prepare the CD, photographs and certificate

The same text on a CD in MS Word, two self-attested photographs with identity proof, and a certificate that both copies match.

Step 7: Pay the charge on BharatKosh

Commonly Rs 1,100 for an adult. It is not refunded.

Step 8: Send the file yourself, then carry the Gazette with your certificates

Send it to the Controller of Publications, Department of Publication, Civil Lines, Delhi 110054. Update Aadhaar, and show the Gazette at every verification.

Would the Uttarakhand Gazette Do?

A state department may accept it for a state post. A teacher who may sit a central test or work elsewhere is better served by the Gazette of India.

Step 1: Read the recruitment notice

A state recruitment may accept either. Ask the department where the notice is silent.

Step 2: Think about a central test, Aadhaar and work in another state

The Gazette of India serves them all.

Step 3: Contact the Roorkee press

Take the contact from govtpress.uk.gov.in and ask if a private change of name notice is being accepted.

Step 4: Ask for the papers, the format and the fee, and submit

Keep photocopies of everything.

Step 5: Download the notice

Search gazettes.uk.gov.in and save the PDF.

To weigh the two, read Uttarakhand Gazette vs Gazette of India.

Which Mistakes Do Trainees Make?

Common mistakes with a name on a D.El.Ed diploma
MistakeWhat to do
Letting a cafe type the entrance form from AadhaarType it from the class 10 certificate
Not reading the first marksheetRead it against class 10 the day it comes
Reading only your own nameRead both parents' names and the date of birth
Leaving a slip until the course is overRaise it while the institute still sends your forms
Filling the eligibility test in a married nameUse the name on the diploma
Finding the slip when a recruitment opensCheck the whole set now
Writing on a marksheet by handNever. Ask for a corrected one
Rushing for a Gazette to fix a slipThe issuing body corrects its slip
Keeping no copy of what the institute forwardedAsk for a dated copy

A typical case we handle: a trainee at an institute in Pauri found, in her third semester, that her marksheets read "Kiran Rawat, daughter of Bhagat Singh". Her class 10 and class 12 certificates read "Kiran Rawat, daughter of Bhagat Singh Rawat". A relative suggested a Gazette before the diploma was printed. It was not needed, since nobody's name had changed. The entrance form had left out her father's surname. She gave the principal a written request with her school certificates, the institute forwarded it, and the later marksheets and the diploma carried the full name. This is an illustrative example of the type of case we handle, not a named client review.

When you do not need us

For a slip on a marksheet, the diploma, a test certificate or Aadhaar, and for a married surname. The issuing body or a marriage certificate settles those. We are useful where your name has in fact been changed by choice and a Gazette notification is asked for.

Which Areas of Uttarakhand Do We Cover?

All 13 districts: Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri Garhwal, Tehri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, Almora, Bageshwar, Champawat and Pithoragarh. The diploma is corrected through your own institute. The Gazette file, where one is needed, is prepared on WhatsApp.
